1935 Duesenberg J-585 Speedster

Car owned ordered by the Holkars

This car was ordered for the Maharaja Holkar of Indore, India, through the Duesenberg dealership in London. The chassis and engine were shipped to London where the body was fitted and then the car was back to Santa Ana, Ca, where the Maharaja had a home. The car was painted in the state colors of Indore with the Maharaja seal on the front fenders. Subsequently, the car was owned by the Sheikh Muktar of Pakistan before it returned to the United States in 1959.

Note the wicker steering wheel and extraordinarily long sweeping fenders. The scale of the car is incredible for a speedster measuring in at over 19 feet. There is also a rumble seat which can be accessed by a fold out step on the side of the car.
